History
Our church
family began in a Manheim home in 1965, as two families desired to see how
the Lord could use them in their town.
Their Bible study grew over the next year with many children being
taught through missionary stories and Good News Clubs.
Over the next 15 years our group, Faith Independent Church,
held its services in the Manheim Union Hall, then later in the vacated United Methodist Church
building on Manheim Square. New families joined and were shepherded
by several interim pastors. Lancaster Bible College
became a source of teachers and Bible study leaders during our formative
years, and in return, provided students with a family away from home and
Christian Service opportunities.
In 1976, Pastor Lee and Dorothy Damon met the church family and he became their first full-time pastor, ministering for the next 12 years.
Ten acres of land was purchased on the northern edge of Manheim in 1977, and is the location of our present church. In 1993, our name was changed to Lake View Bible
Church, and a
mortgage burning celebration was held in March of 1999. Charles and Jean Arnold joined the church family in 1990, and retired in December, 2004.
Our church has had a valuable role in
mentoring Bible
College students and giving them the opportunity to
use and develop their talents through preaching, teaching, and music
ministry. This church family has also had the
joy of seeing these men and women go out into full-time Christian service.
