MANHEIM CHURCH TO BEGIN GRIEF RECOVERY SEMINAR
Beginning February 15th, 2010
Lake View Bible Church, located at 383 Lake View Drive in
Manheim will be hosting a GriefShare ministry beginning on February 15th
and will run for 13 consecutive weeks. The group will meet on Monday
evenings at 6:45pm. Participants are encouraged to arrive 10 minutes early
to get acquainted and enjoy light refreshments.
After the loss of their son in an automobile accident, Art
& Joni Lavoie, (the facilitators of the GriefShare ministry) faced
several months of dismay, sadness, and loneliness. They attended GriefShare
at a church in Lancaster where they found others who had suffered loss. The
13 lessons, the discussions, and the workbook exercises help them to
process the grief they were experiencing. Now, with a desire to help others
who are grieving, the Lavoie’s will be leading GriefShare at Lake View
Bible Church where they have been members for several years.
GriefShare is a Christ-centered program designed to lead
participants from mourning to joy. It emphasizes the foundation for healing
is a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Also, it educates the group
members on what to expect from their season of grief and how to respond in
various situations. During the weekly meetings the group will view a video seminar
on topics such as ‘The Journey of Grief’, ‘Your Family and Grief’, ‘Stuck
in Grief’, etc. A time of discussion follows the video where participants
discuss the contents of the lesson just viewed as well as other topics they
may like to share with the group. Each lesson is self-contained meaning
people can benefit from one single lesson. No one is required to share or
discuss their personal story.
GriefShare is free and is open to anyone that has suffered
the loss of a loved person. The workbooks are an important part of the
recovery process. Participants are asked to reimburse Lake View Bible
Church the $12.00 for the books if possible.
